Seattle Sightseeing
The Beery Guide to Seattle - Bill and Madeline have put together this guide to Seattle and environs with their favorite local places.
The Pike Place Market – Famous for fish throwing you can find just about anything your heart desires. The birthplace of our first Starbucks where I always bought my coffee beans in the ’60s, this is the heart of our emerald city and our pride. websiteThe Hiram Chittenden Locks – Watch boats transit from the salty waters of Puget Sound to our freshwater inland lakes. Most riveting is seeing the salmon dodge the seals
making
their up the fish ladder to reach their breeding grounds to spawn.
Sockeye, Chinook, and Coho salmon, as well as steelhead, migrate
through the ship canal back to Lake Washington and its tributaries. Six
lighted windows in the fish viewing room provide visitors with an
underwater view of the migrating fish in the elongated 18th step.
